A new Hitman game is in development at IO Interactive, the development studio has recently announced through their website.
The team talks about how its making great progress with the game, and that some of the features being worked on will be brand new to the Hitman franchise. Fans of the series and the most recent episodic release will have to wait to hear more about the game however, as IO Interactive plan to start showing more next year.
IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak also announced that the 2016 Hitman game has hit seven million players in its life span. A game of the year edition is also now available.
The news comes five months after a major change for IO Interactive. In June it was announced that the company had gained full control of both the studio and the Hitman IP, after a management buyout was completed with Square Enix.
The 2016 release was brought out in six separate episodes throughout 2016, similarly to the game structure used by Telltale Games. The game was generally well received by fans and critics.
